ABOUT US
Launched in 2014, The Marigold Foundation offers valuable support wherever it is needed and is both voluntary and non-profit making. As an umbrella Foundation, its main objectives are to support other NGOs, projects and organisations and the constant development of our community, addressing specific aspects of it, such as social behaviour, health issues, special needs and education. To do this we work in various ways and with organisations such as Caritas, Puttinu, Dar tal-Providenza, ALS Malta, and many others whilst we also work to reduce stigmas and raise awareness by coordinating campaigns such as the annual nationwide Pnk Oct – Mov Campaign.
The Pnk Oct – Mov Campaign is spearheaded by The Marigold Foundation – BOV in the Community and is a nationwide campaign which has been ongoing since 2015 and involves all players interested in the cause. Our aim is to support the NGOs and the patient support groups which help those afflicted with female and male cancers. Through the Campaign we aim to educate and motivate the general public to take care of their health, know the signs, lessen the fear to check themselves and do the necessary screenings and to create a positive environment of positive actions, healthy attitudes and mindfulness. We aim to help people fight the predominant obstacles that prevent them from fighting cancer. We aim to educate and prevent.
This year the Campaign will focus not only on breast cancer but on other common female cancers – mainly ovarian and cervical cancer that on our islands remain mainly a taboo. The Pnk Oct – Mov ’21 Campaign urges women to be open with such issues, learn how to prevent getting sick, how to check themselves, do the necessary screenings and tests and face the fear that most times throws them into inertia.
Parallel to this, the Campaign will also be raising awareness on men’s health, mainly about prostate cancer and testicular cancer. Following a nationwide survey, this year’s campaign is focusing on educating men not just on the need to check themselves but also on to how to do it properly.
Our campaign includes activities organised by other NGOs, supports campaigns organised by private entities and, of course events organised by the Campaign team.

WHAT CAN YOU DO TO HELP?
There are different ways one can help us to raise awareness and fundraise at the same time. Always remember to organise activities according to Public Health Regulations.
AT WORK
Organise a Pink Day and a fundraising event at your place of work in aid of Pnk Oct – Mov. Invite speakers to your event to inform staff and raise awareness; organise the sale of cupcakes, biscuits, etc. Ask for our pink ribbons made with love by our volunteers and our informative leaflets to distribute.
AT SCHOOL
Organise Pink or Casual Days at your school. Organise the sale of cupcakes and biscuits to fundraise. Ask for our pink ribbons to distribute amongst staff and students
IN YOUR COMMUNITY
In your locality – Shade it Pink – lighting up building facades in pink to help raise awareness; organise information talks for the public.
At Home – Decorate your window/balcony; talk and discuss at home with your parents, partner, children and other relatives; bake muffins and biscuits and share on social media whilst tagging us and help the cause.
